The 15th Assises des Déchets will be held on 2 and 3 October 2019 in Nantes; this event will be structured around an exciting common thread: "Waste and resources: coercion or incentives?"
Efficient recycling of plastered bricks is a demanding challenge. A novel solution came from the partnership between ‘’Serfim recyclage’’ and ‘’Vicat Eco-valorisation’’. It won the 2017 Assises Speed Meetings Innovation Award in the Prevention and Recyclability category.
Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) systems are a French specificity. At European level, only five EPR channels are imposed by the framework directive: packages, Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), end-of-life vehicles, storage batteries and batteries. There are about 15 ERP channels, in France, and about 20 eco-organisations. Current schemes need to be developed to become a sustainable industry based on circular economy. Here-below is a summary of the discussions
Eco-design deconstruction instead of demolition, circular economy, labels, innovation… The stakeholders multiply their actions associated with the construction and demolition waste management (CDWM), aware of the fact that such waste amount to a potential resource of 227 million tons per year.Minutes of workshop 8 of the Assises.
A third of all household waste materials are bio-waste to which must be added a significant quantity coming from larger organizations. Hence, the cost and impact of this resource must be addressed. Following the new regulations governing composting, the new framework of energy transition law sends another strong signal. The reduction of bio-waste materials and of their landfilling, the improvement of the material recycling rate, the generalization of source sorting before 2025 are
Innovation, sharing, prospective... More than ever, the Assises Nationales des Déchets mark their difference in the realm of waste management. On September 27th and 28th2017, in Nantes, this event will make another breakthrough with new ideas, discussions that will include societal dimensions, and innovations to be valorised.
The next Assises des déchets will address the issue of the pollution of the sea trough the eyes of key players. It is a top-level issue for professionals like SUEZ, which have taken multiple initiatives to address it. Here is an overview with Philippe Maillard, managing director of recycling and recovery activities of SUEZ in France.
The Assises des Déchets has been a not-to-be-missed event for almost 30 years – they were first held in 1991 –, as they are an annual national event and anticipated gathering point for industrialists, associations, local governments and government departments and agencies. Their 15th edition will take place on October 2nd and 3rd, 2019 in Nantes.
Whereas resources are getting scarce and construction needs are increasing, construction and public work waste recovery offer prospects for the future. Elected officials and players of the sector met in the Assises Nationales des Déchets to debate on the following issue: “What new territorial dynamic for construction and public work waste?”.
Transition is underway and nothing will stop it. The Energy Transition Law for Green Growth (LTECV) sets precise quantitative targets in terms of sustainable production and consumption. Recycling of materials can be a real opportunity for businesses.
